The Event

To celebrate the launch of AliveandGiving.com we would like to invite you and your guests to join us at our charity fundraising event, Live to Give (as seen in the Wall Street Journal).

AliveandGiving.com is about encouraging considered giving. To reflect this we have invited three amazing charities, Changemakers, Cool Earth and Restless Development, to pitch for funding from the audience at our launch party.

We have raised a fantastic £15,000 as match funding for these charities, so for every £10 you donate on the night, £20 will go to your chosen charity and you will be entered into a draw to Win an iPad!

The event is free to attend; there will be live music and free drinks, and plenty of reasons to give!

About Us

The Charities

Cool Earth is a unique charity that is tackling climate change and deforestation from the ground up. Through a series of projects with indigenous communities throughout the Amazon, Cool Earth ensures some of the most endangered rainforest is the world is protected by the people who have kept it standing for many generations.

After 3 years in business Cool Earth has secured 130,000 acres of forest that would otherwise have been destroyed in Brazil, Peru and Ecuador. With 110,000 members in fourteen countries Cool Earth has prevented 10 tonnes of CO2 emissions every minute since its launch in 2007. Combined with a strict policy of keeping all admin and governance costs below 10% of donations, this makes Cool Earth one of the most efficient and fastest growing environmental groups in Europe.

Young people make up more than 50% of the world’s population. If we are going to address the most urgent issues facing the world, we must develop and empower young people to improve their own lives and their societies. Restless Development’s mission is to place young people at the forefront of change and development.

Every year, Restless Development delivers programmes in underserved communities in Africa and Asia reaching more than 420,000 young people. We utilise our expertise to train and support other development organisations and institutions to effectively work with and for young people. We also engage and advocate with national governments and major international aid institutions to change how they work with young people.

A recent UN survey ranked the UK last among 21 industrialised nations in terms of the well-being of its youth population. A lack of opportunities for young people to positively develop their skills, confidence and access positive role models are key factors in issues including under-achievement, abuse and anti-social behaviour. We are working to change that. Changemakers mission is to unleash young people’s leadership potential.

Every year we work with over 12,000 young people from all backgrounds, including ex-offenders and young people leaving care, providing them with the leadership skills, opportunities and support they need to lead positive change in their own lives, and that of their peers. Our high-impact and cost effective programmes have yielded proven results and been repeatedly recognised as best practice.
